Gifted Child Test Tampa: Parents, Learn How We Conduct Our Online Gifted Testing!

Every child, including yours, has skills, talents, and interests that make him/her/them unique and special. If you’re reading this, you may be wondering if one of your child’s special attributes is an IQ in the gifted range.

Over the past few months, you’ve spent a lot of time with your child thanks to stay-at-home orders. Have you noticed a few things about them that went under your radar in the past? If so, no need to fret. Parents, teachers, and even pediatricians can miss the key signs of giftedness as it can be difficult to identify without formal testing.

That’s where our team of licensed psychologists comes in to help. We want to give every parent a better and more in-depth understanding of their child’s abilities through our individually-administrated testing service. And right now, since your child’s health is our top priority, we’re offering our gifted testing online and, as of September 2020, in person again.

Getting Started

It’s no secret that some kids have a hard time sitting still for extended periods of time. This may be due to boredom, hyperactivity, anxiety, or a host of other possible reasons. Because telehealth testing requires children to sit still and interact with one of our psychologists online for between 30 and 90 minutes (with breaks), we suggest that only children eight years or older be tested via telehealth.

We can talk with you about the possibility of younger children (ages four and up) and children with different types of needs being assessed face-to-face in the office. However, please note that we may end up suspending in-person services again due to changes in COVID-19.

While we currently offer telehealth assessments as a way of keeping everyone safe, we understand that online testing may not be a great fit for your child. Luckily, we currently have a few psychologists who are doing gifted testing face-to-face in the office and can discuss this option with you before scheduling. Additionally, we also offer free, 10-minute consultations prior to seeing your child. These will help us decide the best approach for your child

How Telehealth Testing Works

We think it’s helpful to walk you through the process following a consultation, and if it’s been decided to proceed with virtual testing. Here’s what you can expect:

  • A brief intake session with us.
  • Help with preparing your child for their testing session.
  • Detailed instructions on what to expect and how to set up everything that’s needed.

When the time for testing comes, please have the following:

  • A laptop or desktop computer with a webcam.
  • A second webcam or smartphone for you to use during your child’s test.
  • A quiet, distraction-free environment.

We’ll take care of the rest. Our testing happens in the morning and usually lasts between two-and-a-half to three hours. About one week after the test, we’ll provide feedback on your child’s results via a phone conference and will mail a copy of the report to you.
